Chapter Two

Please revisit chapter two in order to effectively respond to this: As Mary Ellen's family prepares to set off for Oregon, she seems to feel quite conflicted.  Try to put yourself in her place.  What might you be feeling at this moment?

  1. Personally I think I would feel scared. I would feel this way because of hearing what George Kimball said about all the dangers. ex. The Pawnees( The Indians), The Donner Party, and all the storms. Also I would probably feel sad to have to leave my home, friends and Grandma.

  8. I also wouldn't want to be stuck in a storm when I'm asleep in my wagon.

  9. I think we need to move away from the idea of people eating people. That was a very isolated incident and did not happen to most people. You also need to realize that most people did not even know anything about the Donner party. Let's try to explore some other ideas.

  10. It is not acceptable, nor will it ever be, to say "What s/he said." You need to think for yourself.
