Chapter Ten

In each of the last two chapters, the travelers faced great adversity, even having to face the possibility of death.  How do you think these experiences might impact their choices as they continue their journey?  As always, be sure to explain yourself thoroughly.

  1. I think that the experiences will effect their journey if and when the flu comes back that will slow them down and the Indians being so close to them and them being scared they will both slow them down.

  2. I think it will effect their journey so they will not talk to the Indians and so Mary Ellen will tell her dad if she sees Indians.

  6. I think the impact is that they might take more caution about the flu. I also think that the flu might slow them down.

  7. I am not pleased with the repetition and copying of thoughts and ideas here. These responses need to be done in a more thoughtful and original way, and explained thoroughly. One quick sentence is not getting the job done. To do this well, you must revisit the book. This is supposed to be a discussion, not just a brief statement.

  9. Their experiences might be slow because the Indians and their stories and of course the disease cholera because cholera almost killed louvina and that's why they stopped theirselves journey because of Cholera. The Indians were so close to Mary Ellen and that's why they might need to stay somewhere to hide until the Indians don't care who comes on their land.

  10. The flu might scare the Todd family if someone else gets sick. The storm might also intimidate the Todds on their journey to Oregon.

  11. I think it will effect their journey because if the flu does come back again they will have to stop again. Also it may effect their journey when they had to stop because Louvina was sick because the Indians might have been spying on them and they also might follow them.
