Chapter Six
How do you think Mary Ellen feels about her family's current situation? Why do you think her father is so determined?
Mary Ellen might still feel sad about having to leave her Grandma. I think Mary Ellen's Father feels so determined because he might be trying to make sure that Mother doesn't want to turn back and Mother might start to have a feeling that she wants to go back because so many have gone back already. Also I think Mary Ellen is sad because she lost her little heifer.
