Chapter Eleven

On page 108, Mary Ellen says, "We had gone about five or six miles when Father sent John on ahead to look for a nooning place."

What do you think "nooning" means, and why do you think that?

  1. I think nooning means to find a place to rest in the middle of the day because morning and noon are combined into one word and the word is nooning.

  2. I also think it means resting cause in the context, it stated clearly they went a few miles without nooning so its really resting you would think.

  3. I think it means a place to rest and have lunch because noon means afternoon and that is usually when you would have lunch.

  4. I think that nooning means to rest during the day because some people don'y get enough sleep during the night and they want to sleep during the day.
