Chapter Fifteen

On page 146, Mary Ellen tells us that "The oxen strained and pulled with all their waning strength."  What do you think "waning" means?  Why do you think that?

  3. I think that waning means whats left of whatever they have because it makes sense that it is remaining " The oxen strained and pulled with all their waning strength"

  4. I think that waning means the remaining of something because if you take away waning with remaining it makes more sense.

  5. I think that waning means that they pulled with their weight/ their every last bit of "umph". I think this because if you replace the word waning with weight it makes sense.
